Final Fantasy XI

These days it seems that Square Enix is all about taking its games to new levels: A major motion picture, the first storyline sequel (Final Fantasy X-2), action-RPG style (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles) and, with Final Fantasy XI, an online RPG. Despite the slow pickup of online console gaming and the numerous problems with the initial Japanese release of this game, Final Fantasy XI has been a huge success, with over 1.5 Million registered players. The game has since spawned three expansion packs: Rise of Zilart, Chains of Promathia and, most recently, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, which will be released in April 2006.
